Network Practices
Blocking
Allstream does not block or otherwise prevent end user access to lawful content, applications, and/or services. Throttling
Allstream does not throttle, degrade, or impair access to lawful Internet traffic. Company’s policies addressing acceptable use, Internet access, and privacy, can be found online at Public Info and Policies. Complaints and concerns can be directed to Allstream Customer Service.
Affiliated Prioritization
Allstream does not directly or indirectly favor some traffic over other traffic to benefit an affiliate.
Paid Prioritization
Allstream does not directly or indirectly favor some traffic over other traffic in exchange for consideration, monetary or otherwise.
Network Management
Allstream’s data network is designed to provide customers with highly reliable Internet services. Allstream manages our data network capacity to avoid blockages, measuring capacity utilization within our network consistent with industry best practices.
Allstream has a 7x24x365 team of people who proactively monitor the Allstream network. Allstream uses industry standard tools and network management practices to deliver its service, and ensure compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy. Network management activities may include identifying spam and preventing its delivery to customer email accounts, and detecting malicious Internet traffic and preventing the distribution of, or inadvertent access to, malware, phishing, viruses, or other harmful code or content.
Application-Specific Behavior
Allstream does not block or rate-control specific protocols or protocol ports; it does not modify protocol fields in ways not prescribed by protocol standards; and does not favor certain applications or classes of applications
Device Attachment Rules
Allstream permits its customers to attach any device to its network, so long as the device’s usage does not harm Allstream’s network or otherwise violate Allstream’s Acceptable Use Policy.
Security
Allstream uses a variety of practices to help prevent unwanted communications and protect the security of its customers and network. We limit the number of login, SMTP, DNS, and DHCP transactions per second that customers can send to our servers in order to protect them from Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. In order to further protect our customers, Allstream blocks a limited number of ports that are commonly used to send spam, launch malicious attacks, or steal a customer’s information.

Service Description
Allstream’s data services are integral to your business and foundational in providing infrastructure for access to single drop networks like the Internet, and Wide Area Networks like Multi-site Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). Data services are also essential for delivering voice applications like SIP and Unified Communication (UC) services.
Multiple access methodologies like Ethernet over Fiber, Ethernet over Copper and Ethernet over TDM, and are leveraged to ensure expanded reach of Allstream’s data services. The ability to layer multiple services over a single access by using QoS techniques and access devices help you converge voice and data networks into a single connection resulting in significant cost and time savings for your business
Our data portfolio includes Direct Internet Access, VPN (MPLS), Managed VPN, and Ethernet.
Internet is a best effort service and is available in bandwidths between: 1MB -10GB
VPN (MPLS) is available in bandwidths between: 10MB – 1GB
Ethernet is available in bandwidths between: 10MB – 10GB
Other Services on Our Network
Allstream provides business Internet, Ethernet, WAN, and voice services to its customers over the same physical network used to deliver Internet access service. Our business Ethernet, WAN, and voice services are not provided over the Internet but are provisioned with separate service capacity and delivered over separate virtual paths using markings for prioritization. These services are designed to work in conjunction with the customers best-efforts Internet service.

Pricing for our services vary. Please contact us for detailed pricing information and any questions regarding pricing. Any applicable early termination fees are described in the Internet access service contract.
Data Usage Plans
Allstream does not currently have any excessive data usage fees or “data caps”.
