Resale Business Line Rate Increase April 2022

Effective April 2022, your resale business lines may reflect a new or increased charge. This charge is a direct pass-through of third-party cost increases Allstream has incurred due to FCC deregulation of wholesale services.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will the charges be applied?

You will see an increased amount on the “BL Third Party Pass Through Charge” item on your bill.

Some customers may see this charge on their bill for the first time.

Will taxes and surcharges apply to this new charge?

Yes, taxes and surcharges will apply.

Why is this additional charge required?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has deregulated wholesale analog services. Allstream’s underlying provider for the resale lines you purchase from us has chosen to increase its rates. As a result, Allstream costs to provide these services has increased. This charge is a pass-through of Allstream’s increased costs.

Why has only a few months passed since the last increase?

Allstream delayed increasing customer rates for a number of months after receiving a cost increase from our underlying provider in Q3 2021. In Q1 2022, our underlying provider increased costs again, and Allstream is passing through these increased cost to our customers.

How do I know which of my lines are impacted?

Sign in to the Allstream Portal at https://my.allstream.com. From the MY ACCOUNT menu, select Services. Solutions associated with “QLSP” or “Resale” line may be impacted.

Can I avoid the increase?

Call us to see if there are alternatives that could be a good fit for your business. For example, if you are using your line for faxing, we have a cost-effective cloud-based fax option. Allstream’s SIP-based voice solutions (Voice over IP options) are reliable and have a proven track record of supporting analog applications. These can work over your Allstream internet connection or an internet connection you may have with another provider.
