Resale Business Line Rate Increase, January 2022

Effective January 2022, your resale business lines may reflect an increased charge. The new amount is referenced on your December 2021 bill message. This rate increase is a direct pass-through of third-party costs Allstream has incurred due to FCC deregulation of wholesale services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this increase required?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has deregulated wholesale analog services. Allstream’s underlying provider for the resale lines you purchase from us has chosen to increase its rates. As a result, Allstream costs to provide these services has increased. Your new line rate is a pass-through of Allstream’s costs.

How do I know which of my lines are impacted?

Sign in to the Allstream Portal at https://my.allstream.com. From the MY ACCOUNT menu, select Services. Solutions associated with “QLSP” or “Resale” line may be impacted.

Why is the increase so significant?

Our underlying provider has been increasing their rates over time. Until now, Allstream has avoided passing along the full extent of our cost increases to our customers. Unfortunately, Allstream is now no longer able to absorb the full amount of the cost increases. Your new line rates are Allstream’s direct costs.

Can I avoid the increase?

We are happy to discuss options for comparable services that would meet your needs.

Call us to see if there are alternatives that could be a good fit for your business. For example, if you are using your line for faxing, we have a cost-effective cloud-based fax option. Allstream’s SIP-based voice solutions (Voice over IP options) are reliable and have a proven track record of supporting analog applications. These can work over your Allstream internet connection or an internet connection you may have with another provider.

Please contact Customer Service or your Account Consultant, if applicable, to discuss these and other options.
