Frequently Asked Questions
How will the charges be applied?
You will see an increased amount on the “BL Third Party Pass Through Charge” item on your bill. Some customers may see this charge on their bill for the first time.
Will taxes and surcharges apply to this new charge?
Yes, taxes and surcharges will apply.
Why is this additional charge required?
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has deregulated the pricing of copper-based telecommunication facilities that Allstream uses for the provisioning of POTS lines. Allstream’s underlying provider has chosen to increase its rates. As a result, Allstream’s cost to provide these services has increased. This charge is a pass-through of Allstream’s increased costs.
If the rate change shows “TBD” rather than a dollar amount, what should I do?
Check back frequently. These will be updated after rate increase information from Allstream’s underlying provider becomes available.
When the “TBD” is replaced with the rate increase pass-through amount, when will the new rates take effect?
30 days after the rate is updated on the website.
