911 Changes

Allstream is making changes in our US 911 network that may impact you.

ACTION REQUIRED: If you use a third-party provider for station level 911 service (PS/ALI), please take action by June 27, 2022 to help ensure accurate location information in the event of a 911 emergency call.

Station level 911 service allows companies who have employees or phones located in multiple areas, within a single location, to provide detailed location information to emergency personnel e.g., to direct them to a specific floor or area of a building.

If you currently manage station level 911 location information through a third-party provider, Allstream will no longer support third party station level 911 service (PS/ALI) in conjunction with your 911 calls.

There are two options you can take:

  • Option 1: You can continue to use a third-party provider for station level 911 service, but you must secure a direct connection to that provider and reprogram your PBX or other equipment to redirect 911 calls over that connection.
  • Option 2: Allstream can now provide station level 911 service as a replacement for your third-party provider.

Please contact Allstream Customer Service  or your Account Consultant to determine which option is best for your business. The Allstream team will answer your questions and support you in making the required changes.

Please act soon. Contact Allstream Customer Service  or your Account Consultant no later than June 27, 2022, to help ensure accurate location information in the event of a 911 emergency call.

If you have already been contacted by Allstream about this subject, please continue working with that Allstream contact.
