Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the next generation protocol being used on the Internet. The current version in common use today is IPv4. IPv6 eliminates the shortage of network addresses and improves security in sending IP packets, among other advancements. IPv6 has been slowly gaining acceptance on the Internet.

Allstream has been running IPv6 in its production network since 2009. All of Allstream’s own websites support IPv6 and Allstream customers seamlessly run IPv6 from their locations and across Allstream’s network.
